Leading Motorcycle Manufacturer Achieves Grade 1 Energy-Efficient Compressed Air Station Certification, Creating a New Green Manufacturing Benchmark in Southwest China

As manufacturers pursue both operational efficiency and carbon-reduction goals, Ingersoll Rand continues to deliver proven results.

Following the successful implementation of a Grade 1 Energy-Efficient Compressed Air Station at Chongqing Sokon Power, Ingersoll Rand has once again partnered with a leading manufacturer in Southwest China. A customized compressed air system upgrade project and Grade 1 Energy-Efficient Compressed Air Station have now been successfully completed for Loncin General Power Co., Ltd.

Delivered under an Energy Management Contract (EMC) model, the project enabled zero upfront investment, achieved more than 20% energy savings, and established a 10-year long-term partnership, creating a measurable, scalable, and sustainable model for green transformation in advanced manufacturing.

The Pain Point: An Aging Compressed Air System Limiting Efficiency Improvements

As a leading motorcycle manufacturer in China, Loncin relies heavily on compressed air throughout its production processes, including machining, pneumatic equipment operation, and painting applications. Maintaining stable pressure and consistent dew point performance is critical to ensuring product quality and manufacturing reliability.

However, years of operating multiple aging compressors from different manufacturers created several operational challenges:

· Inconsistent operating conditions and low system efficiency resulted in high specific power consumption and rising energy costs.

· The use of equipment from multiple brands increased spare-parts complexity and maintenance workload, while elevating the risk of equipment failure and unplanned downtime.

· Large capital investment requirements made system modernization difficult, creating barriers to both energy-efficiency improvements and sustainability initiatives.

The Ingersoll Rand Solution: From Fragmented Operations to Intelligent Energy Management

To address these challenges, Ingersoll Rand developed a comprehensive system optimization solution centered on energy efficiency, integrating high-performance equipment, lifecycle service support, and digital management capabilities.

The result was a complete upgrade spanning compression equipment, air treatment systems, intelligent controls, and cloud-based monitoring platforms, delivering significant improvements in efficiency, reliability, and operational visibility.
